Fitzgerald named Coach of the Year, six Gulls earn All-TCCC
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College women’s lacrosse coach \#Meghan Fitzgerald\# was honored as the 2010 The Commonwealth Coast Conference Coach of the Year, it was announced by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye on Friday morning. Fitzgerald led the Gulls to a 13-4 overall record this year and 11-0 mark in the TCCC. Six members of the Endicott lacrosse team were also named to the All-TCCC Team.

In her second season as head coach of the Gulls, Fitzgerald enjoyed a tremendous amount of success. Under her guidance, the Gulls are a perfect 20-0 over two seasons in conference play. Four-time defending TCCC champions, the Gulls enter the upcoming 2010 women’s lacrosse championship as the top overall seed.

Endicott placed a pair of attackmen on the All-TCCC First Team in \#Valerie Feldman\# (Albany, N.Y.) and \#Morgan DeShaw\# (Danville, N.H.). Feldman led the team in points (62) and assists (36) during conference play while DeShaw paced the Gulls with a team-best 36 goals. The duo combined to go 15-for-29 on free position shots while grabbing 42 groundballs and 31 draw controls between them.

\#Valerie Feldman\# has now been a four-year All-TCCC selection as the senior has been a First Team selection the past three seasons. The attacker was named the 2008 TCCC Offensive Player of the Year and was a 2007 Honorable Mention selection in her freshman year.

\#Kristen Micho\# (Syracuse, N.Y.), \#Kendahl Light\# (South Hero, Vt.) and \#Leah Neff\# (South Berwick, Maine) were all selected to the All-TCCC Second Team. Micho was second on the team in goals (33) in TCCC games while tying for third in assists (9) and finishing third in points (42). \#Kendahl Light\# was a crucial part of the defense as the senior scooped up 23 groundballs and caused a 12 turnovers, good for second on the team, while also adding three draw controls.

Neff helped backstop the Gulls to their unblemished conference record in her first season as the full-time netminder. Neff allowed only 64 goals in conference games for a 5.82 goals-against-average. The sophomore made 87 saves and held a .576 save percentage while facing 196 shots in TCCC play. Neff posted her first career shutout on April 17th as she held Regis College scoreless in a 22-0 victory.

Rounding out the All-TCCC selections is senior \#Lauren Carelli\# (Hollis, N.H.). Carelli had a goal and an assist in conference play while also adding 21 groundballs, three draw controls and 12 caused turnovers.

Student-athletes from ten different institutions in The Commonwealth Coast Conference were represented on the 2010 All-TCCC Women’s Lacrosse Team. In addition to the all-conference team, winners of five major individual awards and the team sportsmanship award were also selected. Curry senior Ashley Hansbury was named TCCC Offensive Player of the Year, Western New England junior Nicole Poli was picked as TCCC Defensive Player of the Year, New England College freshman Katie Palasz was chosen TCCC Rookie of the Year, Roger Williams’ Jessie Alden was honored as TCCC Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year, and Anna Maria College was the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Endicott begins the pursuit of its fifth-straight The Commonwealth Coast Championship when the Gulls host No. 8-seeded Salve Regina University on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
