11 different Gulls score in win over AMCATS

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott College women’s lacrosse team had an impressive start to its 2010 campaign as the Gulls defeated Anna Maria College, 21-2, on Thursday night in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action held in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls improve to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the TCCC this season while the AMCATS drop their first game as a member of the TCCC and fall to 0-1, 0-1 TCCC.

Endicott wasted no time jumping all over AMC as the Gulls posted three goals in the first minute of play. Off the opening draw control, \#Kristen Micho\# (Syracuse, N.Y.) found a streaking \#Carin Czerniawski\# (Monroe, Conn.) to give the Gulls an early 1-0 lead only :15 seconds into the game. Off the very next draw control, a similar play developed but this time \#Valerie Feldman\# (Albany, N.Y.) found a cutting \#Molly Sowles\# (Cumberland, Maine) for a 2-0 advantage. Feldman then got into the score column as the senior attacker found herself alone in front of the net and used a quick stick fake for her first goal of the season.

\#Kellie Cunningham\# (Derry, N.H.) and \#Kristen Micho\# each scored, followed by a pair of goals from \#Morgan DeShaw\# (Danville, N.H.), to give the Gulls an early 7-0 lead. The AMCATS finally got on the board when Katie Schebel (Ludlow, Mass.) scored on a free position bounce shot to make it a 7-1 game.

The Gulls responded with a 7-0 run including two goals each from Micho and \#Brooke Neuman\# (Stamford, Conn.) while Czerniawski netted her second tally of the game with \#Morgan DeShaw\# adding another goal to record a hat-trick. Schebel ended the run with her second goal on another free position bounce shot as the Gulls ended the half with a 14-2 lead.

Endicott tacked on seven more goals in the second half and cruised to an easy 21-2 win.

The Gulls had 11 different players score a goal including \#Kelly Tierney\# (South Hadley, Mass.) who netted her first four career goals. Micho and DeShaw each added three goals apiece while Czerniawski and \#Meaghann Mellen\# (Londonderry, N.H.) each scored twice. \#Valerie Feldman\# scored a goal and added a game-high six assists while Micho and Czerniawski each had a pair of assists to go along with their scores. \#Kellie Cunningham\# grabbed a game-high six draw controls while DeShaw, Mellen and \#Holly Davis\# (Guilford, Conn.) each scooped up four ground balls. \#Leah Neff\# (South Berwick, Maine) picked up her first win of the season in net by making four saves.

Anna Maria was led by Katie Schebel’s two goals and four draw controls while Amanda Hevy (North Brookfield, Mass.) and Shayna Arasimowicz (Pittsfield, Mass.) each picked up a pair of ground balls. Michel’le St. Pierre (Seekonk, Mass.) suffered the setback for the AMCATS while making four saves on 28 shots faced.

The Gulls return to action on March 11th when the Blue and Green host Babson College in Beverly, Mass. at 4:00 p.m. Anna Maria will look for its first win of the season when the AMCATS host Mount Ida, also on March 11th at 4:00 p.m.
