Gulls edge Roger Williams, 9-7
BRISTOL, R.I. – The Endicott College women’s lacrosse team moved to a perfect 4-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference with a 9-7 victory over Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon in Bristol, R.I. The Gulls improve to 5-1 overall with the win while the Hawks drop to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the TCCC.

With Endicott holding the 5-2 edge at halftime, RWU stormed out of the break led by junior Claire Halliday (Trenton, N.J.), who tallied back-to-back goals and assisted on junior Kate Malenczak’s (Sayville, N.Y.) tally to even the score at 5-5 with 18:55 remaining in regulation.

Endicott head coach Meghan Fitzgerald called a timeout and rallied her team to regain a three-goal lead with markers from junior \#Carin Czerniawski\# (Monroe, Conn.) and two from junior \#Morgan DeShaw\# (Danville, N.H.).

With 3:26 remaining in the contest, RWU senior Natasha Billie (Pt. Pleasant, N.J.) scored her lone goal of the game, but Endicott junior \#Kellie Cunningham\# (Derry, N.H.) needed just :20 seconds to move her team’s advantage back to three with the score to 9-6.

Malenczak notched her team-high third goal of the game at 2:03, but a nice save by Endicott sophomore goalkeeper \#Leah Neff\# (South Berwick, Maine) on a free position shot by Hawks sophomore Danica Delia (Norwalk, Conn.) with :39 seconds remaining helped seal victory for the Gulls – their third straight.

DeShaw led all scorers with five goals on the day, including three-straight between 16:16 and 13:23 of the first half to put Endicott ahead, 4-1. Neff ended the day with seven saves, as did RWU senior goalkeeper Amanda Magee (Columbus, N.J.).

Endicott moves to non-conference play next Thursday as the Gulls host Wellesley College in a 7:00 p.m. contest. RWU stays within the TCCC, hosting Western New England College Tuesday at 4:00 p.m.
