Men's Basketball 2003-2004 Outlook

The 2002-2003 men's basketball team experienced the most successful season in the school's history. The season included a school record 19 wins, the school's first regular season conference championship and first at large bid to the ECAC post-season tournament. Senior Jeremy Currier (Hampstead, NH) was named Co-player of the Year and head coach Michael Plansky was named Co-coach of the year.

The gulls utilized an up tempo style along with effective long range shooting (ranked second in the country in three point field goal percentage) to go 14-2 in conference play. This brings Plansky's career record to 41-8 in conference games. Endicott's pressure defense produced a school record for steals, which ultimately led to easy baskets and a school record for points scored in a season.

Endicott will miss the leadership of captain Tim DiFrancesco but look forward to returning every other member of the 2002-2003 team. Seniors Tom Foster (Hartford, CT) and Jeremy Currier (Hampstead, NH) will help lead a talented group of returnees. Currier led the country in three-point field goal percentage as he set school records for made threes and three-point field goal percentage. Seniors Chris Lacasse (Rochester, NH) and Evan McDermott (Newport, RI) bring depth and athleticism to the frontcourt. Lacasse set a school record for steals in a game and season last year. Junior point guard Josh Oxton (Center Harbor, NH), honorable mention all-conference, and big man James Leveque (Brockton, MA) bring experience and talent that will be hard to match in the commonwealth coast conference. Oxton set a school record for assists in a season and free throw percentage (88.7%). Junior Carlos Nunez (Lawrence, MA) along with Sophomores Matt George (Dover, NH) and Zach Ellis (Bedford, MA) will add depth to a strong backcourt.

A very talented freshman class will compete for significant playing time and add depth to an already deep team. A demanding non-conference schedule with perennial Division III powers such as Rochester, Keene State, Bates and Salem State will prepare the basketball program to again compete for a NCAA tournament bid during the last week of February.
