BEVERLY, Ma- The Endicott Gulls used a stifling defense to beat the Amcats of Anna Maria College at home Saturday 74-50. Endicott held Anna Maria to 30 percent shooting and a season low 50 points on the afternoon. Endicott College also held Anna Maria's top scorer, Matt Brennan (21.7 ppg) to 6 points and forced 26 turnovers.
Endicott used effective 3 point shooting in the first half to take a 36-23 half time lead. Endicott connected on 7 of 15 three point goals to take control of the game. Endicott's defense got better in the second half as a tired Anna Maria team was only able to connect on 6-27 shots including 2-7 from three point land.
Senior Chris Lacasse made the most of his time on the court as he recored 9 rebounds and 4 steals in 14 minutes of play. Matt George also was efficient as he had 9 points and 5 steals in 15 minutes of play. Endicott outrebounded Anna Maria by a 46-35 margin and held a confortable lead for the whole second half.
Endicott was led by Jeremy Currier with 16 points as they saw 12 different players score in the game. Zach Ellis was also in double figures with 10 points. Anna Maria was led by Senior Casey Lefebvre with 15 points while no other Amcats were able to reach double figures.
Endicott improves to 15-4 and 9-2 in the CCC while Anna Maria drops to 6-13 and 3-7 in the CCC. Endicott hopes to improve on it's No. 5 ranking in the region as they finished a 3-0 week in the CCC.
Endicott gets back to action Tuesday at home versus cross town rival Gordon College at 8pm.
