Another record year for the Gulls

BEVERLY, MA-The 2002-2003 Men's basketball team either set or tied 17 school and individual records. Returning 11 players from that group brought optimism to the 2003-2004 season. This year's team did not disappoint as it captured it's second consecutive regular season commonwealth coast conference title. The 2003-2004 team took it a step further by winning the conference tournament and earning an automatic bid to the 2004 NCAA Basketball Championships.

Along the way the 2003-2004 team put it's own mark on history by setting a record for consecutive wins with 14 and a record for wins in a season with 23. The 23-5 record (82 % winning percentage) was by far the best record in school history. The 2003-2004 Gulls also set their mark by becoming the first men's basketball team in school history to receive a regional ranking. The Gulls were ranked 5th in the region all season long. There are 68 teams that make up the New England region.

This year's team also set school records for free throws made and attempted in a season. Endicott College also set a record for attendance in a season as the student body and college community packed MacDonald Gymnasium in the Post Center for the conference tournament and the first round of the NCAA tournament. Individuals on the 2003-2004 team also placed their name in the history book.

Jeremy Currier became the best three point shooter in school history. Currier owns the school record for made three pointers in a game (8), season (77) and career (173). Currier also set the school record for three point percentage in a season in 2002-2003 at 52% and graduates with the highest three point percentage in school history (41%). Currier was named 2003-2004 2nd Team All-League and ended his career as the seventh leading scorer in school history with 1,171 points.

Junior Josh Oxton became the school's assist leader with 308 assists. Sr. Chris Lacasse became school's all-time leader for steals with 123. Lastly, Junior James Leveque became the school leader in blocks with 51.

The team also got recognition from the league as freshman Nemanja Marinkovic became the program's first CCC Rookie of the Year. Marinkovic also was named First Team All-League. This honor has never been bestowed on an Endicott Men's Basketball freshman before. Marinkovic also set the single game record for rebounds with 20 vs. cross town Gordon College.

With the Gulls returning four starters and 8 lettermen from the 2003-2004 season expectations will again be high for 2004-2005 Endicott Basketball.
