BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team fell 1-0 to the visiting MIT Engineers Thursday night at North Field behind an early goal from senior forward Siobhan Rigby (Richmond, Va).
With the loss, Endicott dropped to 4-5 overall (2-1 CCC), while MIT improved to 5-2, 1-0 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
Rigby scored the lone goal of the night (unassisted) as she took a rebounded ball off the pad of senior goalkeeper Rose Bradley (Pottstown, Pa.) and elevated a shot that fell into the back left of the cage to put the Engineers up 1-0, just 3:37 into the contest.
The Endicott defense held strong and fought off 18 shots from the visitors, but the Gulls were unable to capitalize on a scoring opportunity as the Engineers won the penalty corner battle, 15-4, and limited Endicott to under 10 shots on goal for just the fourth time this season.
