Teixeira Collects Second Defensive Player of the Week Award

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) announced its field hockey player of the week awards, and for the second time this season, goalkeeper Taylor Teixeira (Exeter, N.H.) has been named the Defensive Player of the Week.

The accolades were announced on Monday afternoon by the conference office and commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.

Teixiera helped the Gulls collect an important conference win in their only game of the week, as they beat Nichols 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. The senior made five saves and posted a .833 save percentage, allowing just the one goal.

Endicott and Nichols were both undefeated in CCC play entering the game, and with the win, the Gulls moved solely into the top spot in the conference.

Teixeira has posted a 1.65 goals against average this season, starting all 11 games for the Gulls. She has made 61 saves and recorded one shutout on the year.

Endicott has an 8-3 record and is 4-0 in the CCC heading into a Monday night matchup with Western New England.
