Sawchuck Captures Conference Offensive Player of the Week Honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Forward Emily Sawchuck (Cumberland, Maine) continued the string of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) honors for the Endicott field hockey team on Monday when she was named the most recent Offensive Player of the Week. The awards were announced Monday afternoon by the conference office and CCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye.

The sophomore forward is the fourth different Gull to receive a weekly award from the CCC this season. The Blue and Green have a 7-3 mark this year and are perfect in the CCC, with a 3-0 record.

Sawchuck scored three goals in three contests this week, with two of them registering as game-winning goals. She tallied midway through Tuesday's game at St. Joseph's (Maine) to put Endicott up a goal in a game they would go on to win 3-1. She also scored twice in Saturday's homecoming conference win over University of New England. Her first goal, the first on the new turf-surfaced North Field, gave Endicott a 1-0 lead, while her second marker of the day and sixth on the year broke a 1-1 tie with just under three minutes left in regulation.

Sawchuck has six goals and four assists this season, good for 16 points, which is third on the Endicott roster. She is the reigning CCC Rookie of the Year and also earned a spot on the All-CCC First Team last season.

The Gulls sit at the top of the CCC, where they will continue play with their next game, which is home against Nichols next Saturday at 1:00 pm.
