Teixeira Collects CCC Defensive Player of the Week Honors for Field Hockey

CCC Athletes of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Senior goalie Taylor Teixeira (Exeter, N.H.) posted a stingy 0.93 goals against average with 29 saves in a 2-0 week for the Gulls field hockey team this week and for her efforts, Teixeira was named the CCC Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in her career and the first time in the 2012 season.

Endicott scored a 3-2 overtime win versus UMass Dartmouth on Wednesday night after Hannah Thornberg's (Oakland, Maine) tally in the 81st minute won the game for the Gulls, but Teixeira's stellar play in the cage helped her squad climb out of a two-goal deficit in the second half.  Teixeira finished with seven saves on nine shot on goal attempts by Corsairs players including an overtime save in the 74th minute.

In Endicott's second game of the week, the team's CCC opener at Gordon, Teixeira shattered her own personal record with 22 saves.  Her previous best of 17 saves was set last September against MIT.  Endicott won the game 5-0 over the Scots to improve to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in conference play.

Teixeira has a 4-1 goalie record with a 1.16 goals against average, a .875 save percentage, 35 saves, and only five goals allowed.

Endicott looks to maintain their winning ways with a home game against Salem State on Wednesday, September 19th at 4:00 pm with North Shore Cup implications on the line.
