BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott football graduate defensive lineman Colin Meropoulos (Monroe, Conn.) and sophomore wide receiver Kennedy Charles (Portland, Maine) have each received Conference of New England (CNE) weekly honors, as announced by the league office on Monday. Meropoulos has been named the Defensive Player of the Week, while Charles was announced as the Special Teams Player of the Week.
COLIN MEROPOULOS | DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
In Endicott's 39-7 road conference win over UNE, Meropoulos compiled six tackles (two solo), including two sacks (27 yards) and 2.5 tackles for a loss (28 yards).
With his big day, he broke program records for sacks and yards from sacks, surpassing Endicott Hall of Famer Kevin Eagan '12 in both categories.
Meropoulos now has 25.0 sacks (21 solo, 8 assisted, 176 yards) in 38 career games played.
This is the graduate's second career conference Defensive Player of the Week award (11/1/2021).
KENNEDY CHARLES | SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Amidst the Blue and Green's 32-point conference win, Charles ran back an 87-yard kickoff return to the house to put the Gulls up 33-7 in the fourth quarter, solidifying the road victory.
It was his first career kickoff return TD and the seventh in program history.
He also ran in a 12-yard touchdown rush just a few minutes after the big return to finalize the high-scoring day for the Gulls.
On the day, he compiled 22 yards on three rushing attempts and hauled in one catch for seven yards.
This marks Charles' first career CNE Special Teams Player of the Week award.
