Gulls Crowned NCAA Statistical Champion

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott football team has been named the 2022 NCAA Division III Statistical Champion for turnover margin per game.

Endicott posted a 2.18 turnover margin per game figure in 11 contests this past season.

The Gulls ranked ahead of 239 other programs including Wartburg (2.14), Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (2.11), Alma (1.75), and Carnegie Mellon (1.75) to secure the NCAA Division III Statistical Championship in the category.

As a team, Endicott recovered 17 fumbles and picked off 14 passes for 31 turnovers gained.

Conversely, the Gulls only turned the ball over seven times throughout the season (4 fumbles, 3 picks) to end up with a +24 turnover margin (2.18).

The figure also topped all NCAA Divisions including FBS (1.57), FCS (1.60), and DII (1.75).


YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott won a program-record-tying 10 games and produced the first undefeated regular season in program history / Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) era.

The Gulls also entered the national rankings for the first time in the 20-year existence of the program (2003-2022) behind one of the nation's best defenses, soaring as high as No. 22 in the rankings during the season.
