Licciardi, Tirrell Claim CCC Weekly Honors

CCC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott student-athletes Matthew Licciardi (East Greenwich, R.I.) and Joe Tirrell (Franklin, Mass.) have earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) weekly awards, as announced by the league office earlier today.

Licciardi was named the CCC Defensive Player of the Week, while Tirrell received CCC Defensive Rookie of the Week honors, respectively.

Last Saturday (9/24), Liccciardi compiled a career-high 14 tackles (10 solo) in Endicott's 26-13 non-conference win against Norwich. In addition to his 14 stops, he also forced a fumble and registered two quarterback hurries. The forced fumble came on Norwich's opening drive, denying the Cadets a game-opening score and setting the tone for the game to follow. Liccardi also stalled three other Norwich drives with big third-down tackles.

Meanwhile, Tirrell made a career-high four tackles (two solo) for the Gulls against Norwich. Tirrell did a great job standing up the Cadets at the line, making a goal line tackle in the second quarter, and denying a punt return at the 50-yard line.

This is Licciardi's first career honor and Tirrell's second career weekly award.
