Shpur, Van Emon Named College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-Americans

CSC RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott baseball student-athletes Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) and Gabe Van Emon (Lexington, Mass.) have earned Academic All-America® Second Team honors, as selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), formerly CoSIDA.

Shpur and Van Emon join Michael DeDonato '17 M'18 (Chelmsford, Mass.) and Kevin Gould '19 M'20 (Rollinsford, N.H.) as the only student-athletes in program history to receive Academic All-America® accolades.

DeDonato was the first student-athlete to accomplish the feat back in 2018 when he earned All-America® Third Team honors, while Gould added his name to the record books in a similar fashion in 2020.

Additionally, Shpur, Van Emon, DeDonato, former men's soccer standout Evan Couchot '20 (Mason, Ohio), and Endicott Hall of Famer Mike Lane '12 (Medfield, Mass.) are the only student-athletes in Endicott Athletics history to be named an Academic All-American by CSC (formerly CoSIDA) and an Athletic All-American in the same year.

Student-athletes are nominated by their Sports Information Director (SID), must have a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average (GPA), and be a starter or important reserve on their team.

Twenty thousand nominations are received annually across all sports in each NCAA and NAIA division.

All nominees receive Academic All-District® recognition and advance to the national ballot where CSC members vote on the Academic All-America® teams within their division (1,500 selections annually).

The baseball program had five Academic All-District® selections this year including Shpur, Van Emon, Kyle Grabowski (Westfield, Mass.), Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.), and Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.).
