BACK-TO-BACK! No. 4/6 Endicott Blanks Salve Regina In CCC Title Game, 1-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The No. 4/6 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team defeated No. 13/18 Salve Regina, 1-0, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship game to win its second straight title on Saturday evening at North Field.

LP (1-1): Kyle Carozza (Fairfield, Conn.) – 2 2/3 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 4 K
SV (1): Gabe Van Emon (Lexington, Mass.) – 2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 K

Tied 0-0 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to finally break open the tightly-contested stalemate.

John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.) initiated the scoring chance for the Gulls with a leadoff single up the middle.

From there, Joseph Millar (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) lined a single to right field allowing pinch runner Joey Frammartino (North Reading, Mass.) to capitalize on his speed, go first-to-third, and set up the game-winning run.

Van Emon took care of the rest, retiring all six batters he faced in order to clinch the CCC title.

Rian Schwede (Whitman, Mass.) also played a pivotal role in the win as the senior righty produced a quality start (6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K) in a bounce-back effort against the Seahawks.

Endicott nearly put together a comeback bid in the fifth with one out and the bases loaded but Salve Regina stymied the Gulls' chances by only allowing a sacrifice fly to get out of the jam.
