No. 6/11 Baseball Splits With Nichols On The Road

DUDLEY, Mass. – The No. 6/11 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team split a pair of conference games against Nichols, 4-5 and 16-0 (7 inn.), on Saturday evening.

GAME ONE: Nichols 5, No. 6/11 Endicott 4

WP (4-0): Richard Pignone (Stoneham, Mass.) – 3 2/3 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K
LP (4-1): Chris Jenkins (Mansfield, Mass.) – 2 2/3 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 3 K

Nichols' third baseman Jim Marasco (Rochester, N.Y.) launched a walk-off two-run homer to left center in the bottom of the ninth to secure the game one victory.

Rian Schwede (Whitman, Mass.) turned in a quality start despite the loss via six innings pitched, 11 hits, three runs (two earned), zero walks, and four strikeouts.


GAME TWO: No. 6/11 Endicott 16, Nichols 0 (7 inn.)

WP (6-0): Gabe Van Emon (Lexington, Mass.) – 6 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 7 K
LP (3-1): Patrick Sawyer (Saco, Maine) – 3 2/3 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 1 BB, 2 K

Robbie Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) highlighted the Gulls' offense with a 4-for-5 day at the plate, two runs scored, and two RBI.

Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.), Danny MacDougall (Taunton, Mass.), and John Mulready (Peabody, Mass.) also knocked in two runs apiece in the rout.

On the bump, Van Emon lowered his league-leading earned run average (ERA) to 0.96 on the season (47 IP).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Endicott is 13-5 on the road this season.
  • The Gulls lead the all-time series against Nichols, 40-10.
  • Endicott scored in every inning but the first, highlighted by a seven-run sixth inning.
