Shpur, Notarangelo Named D3baseball.com Preseason All-Americans

D3BASEBALL.COM RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott baseball student-athletes Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) and Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) have been named D3baseball.com Preseason All-Americans.

Shpur earned a spot on the D3baseball.com Preseason All-America Second Team, while Notarangelo was selected to the Third Team.

Shpur and Notarangelo join current associate head coach Harry Oringer '15 (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Nick Quattro '16 M'17 (Canton, Conn.) as the only student-athletes in program history to receive Preseason All-America honors from D3baseball.com.

Oringer (2B) accomplished the feat in 2015, while Quattro (RP) did so in 2016.


CALEB SHPUR

2022 STATS: 50 GP (all in CF), .348/.400/.589, 60 R, 72 H, 57 RBI, 13 2B, 2 3B, 11 HR, 33 BB, 14 SB, .991 FLD% (109 PO, 4 A, 1 E)

2022 EXPANDED STATS: 20 multi-hit games (2nd on team), 16 multi-RBI contests (tied 1st on team), 8-game hit streak, 41-game on-base streak, .377 RISP, .368 w/ 2 outs

2022 NCAA RANKINGS: Hits (46th), Runs (37th), RBI (38), Total Bases (40th)

Shpur hauled in several awards last season including D3baseball.com All-America Fifth Team, ABCA/Rawlings All-Region 2 First Team, D3baseball.com All-Region 2 First Team, NEIBA All-Region 2 First Team, All-CCC First Team, and CCC Player of the Year honors.

His 2022 campaign also featured the following single-season rankings: batting average (5th), on-base percentage (3rd), slugging percentage (4th), at-bats (1st), runs scored (t-2nd), hits (2nd), home runs (4th), RBI (2nd), total bases (2nd, 122), and walks (5th)


NICOLAS NOTARANGELO

2022 STATS: 50 GP (all in LF), .347/.443/.653, 54 R, 68 H, 60 RBI, 15 2B, 3 3B, 13 HR, 35 BB, 8 SB, 1.000 FLD% (75 PO, 1 A)

2022 EXPANDED STATS: 23 multi-hit games (1st on team), 16 multi-RBI contests (t-1st on team), 10-game hitting streak, 25-game on-base streak, .378 RISP, .394 w/ 2 outs

2022 NCAA RANKINGS: Base on Balls (44th), Home Runs (32nd), RBI (28th), Total Bases (25th)

Notarangelo compiled several awards last season including ABCA/Rawlings All-Region 2 First Team, D3baseball.com All-Region 2 First Team, NEIBA All-Region 2 First Team, and All-CCC First Team accolades.

Notarangelo also etched his name into the following single-season rankings, highlighted by hitting the most homers and knocking in the most runs for the Gulls ever: slugging percentage (9th), at-bats (3rd), runs (4th), hits (6th), doubles (t-4th), home runs (1st), RBI (1st), total bases (1st, 128), and walks (2nd)

Endicott enters the 2023 campaign ranked No. 10 overall in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Preseason Poll. The Gulls begin the season at home against Brandeis on Saturday, February 25 (12/3 PM).
