2011 All-TCCC Baseball Selections

Springfield, Mass. - Six Endicott baseball players earned All-TCCC postseason honors including junior hurler Benjamin Petrides (Belchertown, Mass.) and freshman infielder Jake Northrup (Boxborough, Mass.) who were named Pitcher and Rookie of the Year by the TCCC.

Petrides, this year's Pitcher of the Year, went 3-0 with a sub-1.00 ERA (0.70) and one save against conference opponents this season as he led the Gulls on the mound into the TCCC playoffs.  Petrides, who also earled First Team honors, struck out 19 batters in 25.2 innings pitched while walking only three batters.  This is the second season in-a-row that Petrides garned First Team All-TCCC honors.

Northrup, the TCCC's Rookie of the Year and a First Team honoree, was electric in his first season with the Blue and Green, batting .460 with a team-high 29 hits against TCCC foes.  Northrup knocked in 27 runners, scored 16 times, stole three bases and walked six times.  He reached base at a .500 clip and had a .651 slugging percentage thanks to 10 extra base hits including two doubles and a homerun.  Northrup split time between first base, shortstop and pitcher and had a .977 fielding percentage with just four errors. 

The last Endicott player to win First Team All-TCCC accolades, junior outfielder Colin Sitarz (West Hartford, Conn.), played in all 22 conference games this season and batted .353 with 22 RBI, 13 runs, and four stolen bases.  He sported a .618 slugging percentage with nine extra base hits, including five triples, two doubles and two homeruns. 

Junior third baseman Danny Mello (Peabody, Mass.), sophomore second baseman Eric Lemke (Southington, Conn.) and sophomore pitcher Brendan Pittsley (Plympton, Mass.) were all named to the All-TCCC Second Team for their respective contrubtions. 

Mello batted .344 with a team-high 25 runs scored with eight RBI and eight stolen bases.  Mello got on base at a .500 clip due in large part to 21 hits (seven doubles, one triple, one homerun) and 11 walks in conference games. 

Lemke hit .310 in 2011 against conference opponents with 18 runs scored, 13 RBI, 12 walks and three stolen bases.  The sophomore committed only two errors in the field for a .972 fielding percentage.  

Pittsley went 3-1 on the mound for the Gulls with 1.82 ERA.  He struck out a team-high 26 batters in 24.2 innings pitched and even recorded a save.  He held opposing batters to a .157 batting average.   

Endicott will continue their quest for the 2011 TCCC Championship trophy on Friday, May 5th at 3:30 pm against Roger Williams.  This game was postponed from Thursday after rain showers made the playoff game unplayable.
