Boxscore

The Gulls suffered their first shutout loss in conference play, dropping game one of the doubleheader 4-0 as Salve Regina’s senior pitcher Patrick Quinn (Middletown, N.J.) earned the complete game victory.
Quinn went seven innings, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out five batters to improve to 4-1 on the season.

Endicott’s Mike Nich (Orange, Conn.) took the loss on the mound, giving up three runs in five innings. Nich struck out three before handing the ball over to sophomore Kevin Dupras (Belchertown, Mass.) who came on for an inning of relief.

Salve Regina took the early advantage in game one, scoring twice in the bottom of the first on a double to left by Tom Glynn (Woodbridge, Conn.) and a RBI groundout by Brandon Bursie (Smithfield, R.I.).

The Seahawks tacked on a run in the fifth as Glynn drove in another runner on a RBI single to left center. In the bottom of the sixth, Tyler Colby (Easton, Conn.) hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in a runner from third, completing the scoring for Salve Regina.

Endicott’s Danny Mello (Peabody, Mass.) stole his team-leading 19th base of the season in this game and freshman EJ Martinez (Brooklyn, Mass.) went 1-for-1 with a walk in two plate appearances for the Gulls.

Game Two – Endicott 7, Salve Regina 2

Boxscore

Looking to get the momentum in their favor early in the game, the Gulls scored twice in the top of the second to go up 2-0. Junior Colin Sitarz (West Hartford, Conn.) singled then advanced to third on back-to-back wild pitches. Tad Gold (Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.) walked, then stole second before senior Chris Dominguez (Braintree, Mass.) knocked in Sitarz from third on a single to right. With runners on the corners, the Blue and Green pulled off a successful double steal to bring Gold home from third base.

The score remained 2-0 until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Salve Regina tied the game on an RBI single up the middle by Alexander Melcher (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) that scored Tyler Colby and a bases loaded walk by Bursie. After the walk, Endicott’s Tyler Hitchcock (Abington, Mass.) was called out of the bullpen to get out of the jam, forcing a groundout to third base.

Hitchcock relieved Benjamin Petrides (Belchertown, Mass.) who went 4 2/3 innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out five.

In the top half of the sixth inning, the Gulls regained the lead thanks to a Jake Northrup (Boxborough, Mass.) RBI double that scored Eric Lemke (Southington, Conn.). Lemke walked to lead off the inning then used a wild pitch and passed ball to get on third before Northrup drove him in. Endicott looked to add to their 3-2 lead later in the inning with the bases loaded and one out, but Seahawks pitcher Craig Silva (Marlborough, Mass.) forced a double play ball to end the inning.

Connor McLaughlin (Clinton, Mass.) pitched a scoreless bottom of the sixth for the Gulls, allowing just a leadoff single before retiring the next three batters.

Endicott got some much needed insurance in the top of the seventh as Northrup came through once again with a two-out double to left center that plated Danny Mello and Mike Russo (Natick, Mass.). Sitarz drove Northrup home with a single to left that brought in Endicott’s lead up to 6-2. After a pitching change for Salve Regina, Sitarz stole second and was brought home by a RBI single to right by Tad Gold to finish off the scoring at 7-2

Tyler Hill (Plymouth, N.H.) closed out the game for the Gulls, forcing a 6-4-3 double play and a groundout to retire the Seahawks in game two. Hitchcock got the win in game two, while Salve Regina's Silva dropped to 1-1.

Endicott travels to Roger Williams on Sunday, April 17th for a TCCC doubleheader starting at noon.
