CHICAGO, Ill.- The women's volleyball team new they were in for a tough fight against Elmhurst and the #9 team in the country proved to be too much for the Gulls to handle. Elmhurst defeated the Gulls 3-0 with sets of 15-25, 16-25, 13-25.
Endicott was led offensively by Callie Dolan (Westford, Mass.) and Mackenzie Guerre (Carlsbad, Calif.). Dolan recorded four kills on 18 attempts from the outside as Guerre recorded four kills on 11 swings out of the middle. Alleigh VandeMerkt (Riverside, Ill.) set another solid match and chipped in with 11 assists on the day. Sierra Kenkel (Kalispell, Mont.) came in for her serving and defense and provided a nice spark by tallying two aces.
The team is now off until Thursday as they travel back to the East Coast. Thursday will be the battle for the North Shore Cup as the Gulls play host to rivals Gordon and Salem State. Endicott and Gordon have a 6 p.m. start with Endicott and Salem State to follow.
