NEWVA recognizes Allshouse and Barbour as All-New England Seniors
2011 NEWVA All-New England Senior Classic

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. –
The New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) named their list of 33 New England Division III senior volleyball players invited to compete at the 2011 NEWVA Senior Classic on Sunday, December 4th at UMass Boston and right side hitter Elyse Barbour (Greenville, R.I.) and setter Sarah Allshouse (Berthoud, Colo.) were both recognized.

Barbour finished her four-year career with the Gulls with her third-straight 200+ kill season, registering 268 on a .232 hit percentage through 32 matches played.  Defensively, the senior made a total of 89 blocks at the net.  For her career, Barbour will finish tied for first all-time in assisted blocks (326) and in Endicott’s top-ten in total blocks, solo blocks, blocks per set, sets played, kills, attack attempts and attack percentage.  Barbour is a three-time All-CCC honoree, earning a First Team nod in 2011 and Second Team honors in both 2009 and 2010.

Allshouse, in just two years in an Endicott jersey, will finish second all-time in assists with 2,231 and in assists per set with 8.42.  Allshouse was also a phenomenal defender with 720 total digs (2.72 per set) and 106 blocks (0.4 per set).  She was named to the All-CCC Second Team twice.

The Gulls wrapped up their 2011 season with another run at an ECAC Division III New England Championship but Endicott fell short after losing to Plymouth State in five sets in the semifinals.  This came one week after making their second straight appearance in the CCC title match against Roger Williams.  The Hawks, however, rallied to beat Endicott 3-1 in that championship showdown after the Gulls earned a
first set win and held a commanding lead in the second set.

Endicott’s regular season was once again peppered with top-notch regionally and nationally ranked opponents including five in the top 25 in the country.  The Gulls faced off against \#2 Washington University, \#12 Colorado College, \#15 Concordia Moorhead and \#17 UMass Boston.  Endicott also held its annual invitational tournament that played host several regionally ranked women’s volleyball programs.  The highlight of Endicott’s non-conference schedule was a 3-2 win over \#4 regionally-ranked Tufts on October 19th at home.

Besides Barbour and Allshouse, several other players earned All-CCC accolades including Rookie of the Year and Second Team honoree Alexandra Gearin (Los Angeles, Calif.).  Gulls outside hitter Falyn Torelli (Pelham, N.Y.) and libero Ashley Norley (Sudbury, Mass.) were also recognized as All-CCC Honorable Mention Players.

The will now look forward to the spring non-traditional season where the Gulls will begin to prepare for another successful fall campaign in 2012.
