SPRINGFIELD, Mass. –
Senior right side hitter and captain Elyse Barbour (Greenville, R.I.) was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Co-Player of the Week after leading the Gulls to a 3-2 week which included a conference win and a quality showing at the MIT Invitational against top non-conference opponents.

Barbour averaged 2.62 kills and 0.95 blocks per set with a .250 hit percentage in 21 sets played over the past week.

The senior’s best performances all came in Endicott victories.  Against conference rival UNE, Barbour recorded 11 kills with just two errors for a .429 hit percentage.  She blocked four attacks at the net, including two solo stops.  In a 3-1 Gulls victory over Smith on day one of the MIT Invitational, Barbour once again was effective on the attack with 12 kills with only three errors.  In another four-set win at the MIT Invitational, this time against Colby on day two, she totaled 14 kills with a total of six blocks.

Defensive at the net was Barbour’s specialty on the week as she amassed 20 blocks, five solo and 15 assisted stops.
Barbour and the Gulls return to action on Wednesday, September 28th at home against CCC opponent Eastern Nazarene at 7:00 pm in MacDonald Gymnasium.
