BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott women's volleyball team forced a fifth set against Williams but lost 3-2 before taking down Colby 3-1 on day two of the MIT Invitational.

The Gulls fell 3-2 (25-21, 20-25, 25-23, 20-25, 15-10) to the NESCAC's Williams College on day two of the MIT Invitational despite a stellar effort by freshman Alexandra Gearin (Los Angeles, Calif.) and 14.0 team blocks at the net.  

Gearin totaled 18 kills with a .212 hit percentage while defending the opposition's attack with 21 digs and a solo block.  Junior outside hitter Falyn Torelli (Pelham, N.Y.) was second-best on the team with 13 kills with 11 digs.  

Endicott's leader defensively was libero Ashley Norley (Sudbury, Mass.) who compiled 28 digs.  Other effective stoppers at the net were Callie Dolan (Westford, Mass.), Elyse Barbour (Greenville, R.I.) and Hannah Dahlgren (Queensbury, N.Y.) who had four, four and three assisted blocks each.  

Setter Sarah Allshouse (Berthoud, Colo.) had 47 assists with 14 digs of her own.  

Match Two vs Colby

Endicott won 3-1 (26-24, 25-21, 20-25, 26-24) over Colby in their final match of the MIT Invitational behind a trio of attackers that tallied double-digit kills in the win.  

Gearin was once again top attacker with 15 kills with Barbour and Torelli adding 14 and 13 kills, respectively.  Gearin and Torelli were also effective on defense with 12 and 11 digs apiece.  

The Gulls once again proved their presence at the net as Barbour and Dahlgren each had a hand in 7.0 team blocks as each player had a solo block and five assisted stops in the victory.  

Norley tallied 16 digs and Allshouse added 45 assists to her solid weekend as the team's setter.  

Sophomore Carly Beers (Traverse City, Mich.) played well in four sets played with eight digs and an ace. 

Endicott hosts CCC foe Eastern Nazarene on Wednesday, September 28th at 7:00 pm MacDonald Gymnasium beginning a stretch of five conference matches over their next seven contests.
