SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott freshman outside hitter Alexandra Gearin (Los Angeles, Calif.) was awarded this week’s Player and Rookie of the Week honors by the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) after leading the Gulls to a 2-0 record over the weekend.

The Blue and Green earned their first ever victory over Wellesley in a five-set thriller and followed up by defeating Keene State 3-1, the team that kept Endicott from the 2010 ECAC DIII New England Championship.

In those matches, Gearin totaled 28 kills, 20 digs, and five service aces while playing in all nine sets. Gearin had a match-high 15 kills against Wellesley and added 13 more against Keene State. She had a .230 hit percentage over the weekend.

The Gulls will host the Endicott Invitational on Friday and Saturday this weekend with Endicott playing St. Mary’s (Minn.), Middlebury, Schreiner (Texas) and Williams.
