No. 4 Women’s Rugby Routs Wheaton (Mass.), 54-0

BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 4 nationally ranked women's rugby team defeated Wheaton (Mass.), 54-0, on Sunday evening at Hempstead Stadium.

For the second straight match, Tess Merrill (Greenwich, N.Y.) fueled the offense with three tries.

The Gulls also saw Jourdan VanAmburgh (Selkirk, N.Y.) contribute two tries in the victory, while Sarah Aylwin (Topsfield, Mass.), Melissa Drexler (Duxbury, Mass.), Carolina Stubbs (Newtown, Conn.), Amelia George (Holyoke, Mass.), and Cassidy McElhinney (Natick, Mass.) notched one try apiece.

Elektra Cheney (Collinsville, Conn.) rounded out the scoring for Endicott with two conversions.

Dating back to 2017, the Gulls have outscored Wheaton (Mass.) 316-25 in their last four meetings in 15s play.

Aside from the offensive outburst, Kaitlyn Quinn (Salem, N.H.) was named the Defensive Player of the Match for her outstanding tackling efforts.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (2-0) hosts Salve Regina on Saturday, October 9 at 7 PM. The Gulls will have Saturday's match serve as Alumni/Senior Day and also as a fundraiser for breast cancer awareness.
