Women's Lacrosse to Host Springfield in NCAA Tournament

BEVERLY, Mass. -- Endicott has been selected as a host institution in the 2013 NCAA women's lacrosse tournament, and will welcome in Springfield College for their First Round game on Wednesday, May 8th at 5:00 pm.

The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) champions are making their eighth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance after earning the CCC Automatic Qualifier.

Endicott (12-7) defeated Western New England 17-15 on Saturday to capture their eighth straight CCC title.

Springfield (11-7) are the champions of the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). The Pride won their second-straight NEWMAC Championship this season with a 7-2 victory over Babson in Sunday's championship game.

The Gulls and Pride have met just once in the two program's history. Last March, Endicott defeated Springfield 12-6 during the team's spring break trip to Orlando, Florida.

This marks Springfield's fifth trip to the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse championship, as the Pride previously competed on the national scene in 2002, 2005, and 2006, and 2012.

The Gulls are hosting their second NCAA tournament game in the last three years. In 2010-11, Endicott fell 17-6 to Tufts at Endicott Stadium.

Endicott will offer live stats and video of the NCAA Tournament game on ecgulls.com.
