Players of the Year Davis and Barnes Highlight Ten Women’s Lacrosse CCC Selections

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott senior Holly Davis (Guilford, Conn.) and junior Kelsey Barnes (Mendham, N.J.) earned Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) major awards and headlined a record class of ten members of the Endicott women's lacrosse team to earn All-Conference selections.

Davis was named CCC Offensive Player of the Year, while Barnes earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. This is the second consecutive season that the Gulls have taken both of the major conference player of the year awards.

Both players were also named to the CCC First Team, where they were joined by attack Kelly Tierney (S. Hadley, Mass.) and goalkeeper Rachel Socolow (Westford, Mass.).

Second team selections for the Gulls included attacker Callie Murphy (Woburn, Mass.), midfielders Rachel Campos (Shrewsbury, Mass.) and Lauren Todd (Newfields, N.H.) and defender Stacia Geno (White River Junction, Vt.), while Caitlin Pratt (Bow, N.H.) and Gabrielle Boyle (Hingham, Mass.) earned Honorable Mention nods.

Davis has been a force on the attack for the Gulls this season.  As a midfielder, her shots on goal percentage is currently 86.7% while she is tied for second in the league for goals scored (61), tied for third in points (79) and tied for tenth in assists (18).  Davis continues to help lead an offense that is ranked first in the conference for dishing out assists (134), second in shots on goal percentage (82%) and third in scoring with 242 goals.  She also ranks among the top 50 in the most recent NCAA Division III women's lacrosse rankings in points (43rd).  Davis has also won 70 draw controls this season, gathered 23 ground balls, and caused seven turnovers.

Barnes earns her second consecutive spot in the CCC First Team after helping lead a top ranked defense that only allowed 55 goals in conference play for a 6.88 goals allowed average.  The Endicott defense also is ranked third in caused turnovers, producing 83 against conference opponents.  Barnes has earned 38 ground balls, 24 caused turnovers and three draw controls during her junior campaign.  She is enjoying her third All Conference season, having also earned honorable mention recognition during her sophomore year.

Tierney scored a team-high 84 points this year n 40 goals and 44 assists, placing her second in the CCC in helpers. She won 20 ground balls and also grabbed 11 draw controls while earning her second straight All-Conference selection and her first First Team nod n her Senior season. Socolow played every minute in net for the Gulls, earning ten wins and putting up a goals against average of 9.18, good for second in the CCC. The junior made 127 saves and had a 44.9 save percentage in earning her first Conference award.

Todd, who led the team with 25 caused turnovers and was second to Barnes with 37 ground balls, makes her third straight appearance on the All-Conference team, while it took a team-high 74 draw controls, fourth in the CCC, to earn Campos her first selection in her junior season. Murphy was third on the team with 33 goals and second on the squad with 21 assists. The junior makes her second consecutive appearance on the All-CCC team after an Honorable Mention appearance a year ago.

Geno, the captain of the Gulls, is making her second consecutive CCC Honorable Mention appearance. She caused 16 turnovers this season and won 10 draw controls, while scoring twice.

Pratt and Boyle each earn their first All-CCC nod in their senior year. Pratt scored 24 goals and added four assists, while Boyle picked up 22 ground balls and won eight draw controls while causing four turnovers.

The Gulls finished the regular season at 10-7 overall (7-1 CCC) and are entering the CCC Championship Tournament as the number two seed. They will await their opponent for Wednesday afternoon's semifinals matchup at Endicott Stadium.
