Women’s Ice Hockey Completes Weekend Sweep Of SUNY Canton On Senior Day, 3-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's ice hockey team defeated SUNY Canton, 3-0, on Saturday evening in conference action at Raymond J. Bourque Arena.

In a pre-game ceremony prior to the matchup, seniors Ellen Carter (Roseville, Minn.), Meaghan Farragher (Bridgewater, Mass.), Samantha Fuller (Moretown, Vt.), Caroline Hughes (Andover, Mass.), Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden), Lexi Klein (Shoreview, Minn.), Rachel Lustenring (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.), and Courtney Walpole (Allen, Texas) were all honored for their contributions towards the women's ice hockey program and the Endicott College community.

This group of eight seniors is the first-ever graduating class to complete all four years with the program since its transition to NCAA Division III status in 2015-16. Overall, Endicott's eight seniors have guided the program to three conference tournament championship game appearances, a 70-21-11 (.740) overall record, and a 37-6-5 (.823) conference record.

Meanwhile, as for the game, Endicott received goals from Walpole, Tabitha Franceschini (Brick, N.J.), and Jillian Gibbs (Burlington, Vt.) in the first (12:51, PP), second (19:34), and third (8:15, PP) periods, respectively, in the win. Jonsson also made several sensational saves – 24 total – to improve to improve to 8-3-4 overall (48-18-10 all-time).

  • Endicott is 11-0-0 all-time versus SUNY Canton.
  • The Gulls improved to 9-1-1 at Raymond J. Bourque Arena this season.
  • Yesterday (2/8/19), Endicott beat SUNY Canton, 5-1, at home.
  • Endicott has shut out SUNY Canton four times in the all-time series (1/30/16, 3-0 | 1/27/17, 4-0 | 3/3/18, 4-0 | 2/9/19, 3-0).
  • Jonsson recorded her 22nd career shutout in the victory.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (15-4-4, 7-2-1 CHC) travels to Morrisville State for a pair of games on Friday, February 15 (4 PM) and Saturday, February 16 (1 PM). SUNY Canton (9-10-4, 4-5-1 CHC) hosts Becker next weekend (Friday, 4 PM | Saturday, 2 PM).
