Gulls, Huskies Skate to 1-1 Overtime Draw

Lauren Ferraiuolo looks for a teammate to pass the puck to.

GORHAM, Maine – The Endicott women's ice hockey team opened the 2018-19 season at Southern Maine on Saturday afternoon, where they skated to a 1-1 overtime draw.

The Gulls got on the board first as Courtney Sullivan (North Yarmouth, Maine) registered her first career goal at the 3:11 mark. She was assisted by Lauren Ferraiuolo (North Haven, Conn) and Ellen Carter (Roseville, Minn.)

The score remained 1-0 in favor of Endicott until the third period when Southern Maine's Bridget Fagan (Millis, Mass.) tied the game at 1-1 just over halfway through the frame.

Both teams continued to look for the go-ahead goal throughout the remainder regulation and an overtime period but neither found the back of the net and the contest ended in a tie.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls held a 44-16 shot advantage during the game.
  • Endicott was led offensively by Michaela McNamara (Warwick, R.I.) and Courtney Walpole (Allen, Texas) with six shots each.
  • Vendela Jonsson (Linkoping, Sweden) got the start in net and made 15 saves for the Gulls, while Britney Evangelista (North Smithfield, R.I.) recorded 43 stops for the Huskies.
