Box Score

ORLANDO, Fla. - The Endicott College softball team split a pair of games in Kissimmee, Florida on Wednesday afternoon as the Gulls defeated Framingham State College, 12-4, and then lost to Rowan University, 14-1 in five innings, in game two of their double-header. The Gulls stand at 6-2 overall and will wrap up their trip to Florida on Thursday with their fifth double-header in five days. For the second straight day, Casey Shanley (Billerica, Mass.) drove in five runs to lead the Gulls in their 12-4 victory over the Rams.

Endicott took a two-run lead in the first inning as the Gulls pushed a pair of unearned runs across. The Rams committed two errors in the inning while also allowing a passed ball. Framingham State responded in their half of the first as Andrea DiTerlizzi had an RBI single to cut the Endicott lead to 2-1.

The Gulls quickly responded with three more runs in the top of the second inning when Casey Shanley blasted a three-run homerun that scored Megan Downey (Ballston Lake, N.Y.) and Jenna Lazar (Milton, Mass.). Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.) would pitch her way to her second win of the season with the 5-1 cushion being all she would need.

Endicott would tack on six more runs in the top of the fifth to put the game out of reach before Wright would give up three more runs in the bottom of the fifth, giving way to Jackie Collier (Swampscott, Mass.) who pitched the final 2.2 innings without giving up a hit. Shanley would drive in her fifth run of the game on an RBI double to get the final score, 12-4.

Casey Shanley ended the day a perfect 4-for-4 from the plate with her five RBI's. Sophomore Hayley Hovhanessian (Farmington, Conn.) also had a pair of RBI's while going 2-for-4 from the dish. Framingham State's Alysia Morrissette took the loss for the Rams as she gave up 12 runs on 12 hits in seven innings, only eight of which were earned as Framingham State made five errors on the day.

In the second contest, the Gulls were stymied by Rowan University's Jackie Sasko as she pitched five innings while only giving up three hits and giving up one earned run. The Gulls were struck by a pair of injuries as Lazar and Downey were forced to leave the game. Endicott was also a victim of sickness as Jenna Bortolotti (Milton, Mass.) was forced to miss a start after going a perfect 2-0 so far this season.

Rowan University had four players drive in two or more RBI's on the day. Ashley Landi went 3-for-3 with three RBI's, while both Casey Roselle and Nicki Veneziano both went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI's. Kristina Brenner also went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI's in the 14-1 triumph.

Jackie Collier took the loss for the Gulls as she was only able to go 2.1 innings while walking seven and giving up three earned runs. Ashley Wright came in to finish the game but was ineffective as she gave up 11 runs and walked seven in 2.2 innings. Merry MacDonald (Braintree, Mass.) drove in the lone run for the Gulls as she had one of only three Endicott hits on the day.

The Blue and Green wrap up the Florida Spring Rebel Games on Thursday as they face off against Smith College at 9:00 a.m. and then finish their trip with a 1:00 p.m. game against Montclair State University.
