BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott men's soccer senior forward Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Second Team, as announced by the organization earlier today.
Couchot is now the second student-athlete in men's soccer program history to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors joining Gregory Capece '12 (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) on the list. Capece accomplished the feat in 2011 along with recent Endicott Hall of Fame inductee Colleen Pepin '12 (Fairhaven, Mass.). At the time, both Capece and Pepin were the first student-athletes in Endicott Athletics history to ever claim CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
Meanwhile, Couchot, who sports a 3.7 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as a biology & biotechnology major at Endicott, is a multiple Dean's List honoree and a member of the Endicott Scholars Program. Couchot's internship experience is highlighted by his time at Prospective Research, Inc. from January 2017 to August 2017. Couchot completed extensive work with varying fermentation conditions and also developed a new form of liquid bioassay to greatly increase company productivity in the field of early antibiotic discovery.
For his efforts in the classroom over his career, Couchot was named the 2019 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Senior Scholar-Athlete.
The senior forward has also earned CCC Academic All-Conference honors twice, with a third one likely on the way later, and claimed three the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team accolades.
On the pitch, Couchot was a star for the Gulls, recently completing one of the best individual seasons in program history.
The 2019 CCC Offensive Player of the Year and All-CCC First Teamer led Endicott this season in both goals (23) and points (50). Nationally, Couchot ranked third in goals per game (1.21), third in points per game (2.63), fourth in goals (23), and sixth in total points (50).
The senior forward also set single-season records for points (50), points per game (2.63), goals (23), goals per game (1.21), and made penalty kicks (8). In addition to his single-season records, Couchot finished his Endicott career as the all-time leader in points (133), points per game (1.80), goals (60), goals per game (0.81), and game-winning goals (14).
