Fourth Quarter Run Propels No. 17/19 Men's Lacrosse Past Wentworth, 20-9

BOSTON, Mass. – The No. 17/19 men's lacrosse team defeated Wentworth, 20-9, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on Wednesday afternoon at Sweeney Field.

Guerin Favreau (Woodstock Valley, Conn.) and Nick Pagluiso (Shelton, Conn.) led the Gulls offense with four goals apiece. Pagluiso also had three assists in the contest.

Nick Graap (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Tommy Tyksinski (Guilderland, N.Y.) both registered three goals, while Cam Fernandez (Mendham, N.J.) potted two goals. Thomas Barker (Needham, Mass.)Jack Fiorillo (Mineola, N.Y.)Manny Marshall (Chelmsford, Mass.), and Matt Wright (Oregon City, Ore.) all added solo tallies.

In goal, Tim Luciano (Westport, Conn.) made 10 saves in the victory as his record improves to 14-1.

The first half was back-and-forth between the two teams as it featured three lead changes and five ties (1-1, 2-2, 3-3, 5-5, and 6-6). The Gulls had six different goal-scorers in the first 30 minutes.

The two teams each added three more goals in the third quarter setting up a 9-9 tie head to the final 15 minutes.

Endicott got goals from Graap and Pagluiso 13 seconds apart to secure an 11-9 lead just 52 seconds into the fourth quarter. Then Favreau and Pagluiso both scored 57 seconds apart as the Gulls now led 13-9 just four minutes into the fourth quarter. Graap, Barker, and Pagluiso added three more tallies in the span of 1:05 to increase the Gulls advantage to seven.

From there Endicott put four more into the back of the net to secure the 20-9 road victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • No. 17/19 Endicott is 27-3 all-time against Wentworth.
  • The Gulls finish the regular season a perfect 8-0 on the road.
  • Pagluiso eclipsed 100 career goals in the contest while also moving into 10th all-time in points with 230.
  • Matt Cawley (Westwood, Mass.) scooped up his 100th career ground ball in the victory.
  • Barker went 16-24 at the face-off "X" including seven in the fourth quarter. Led the Gulls with nine ground balls.

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 17/19 Endicott (14-1, 7-0 CCC) will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming CCC Tournament. The Gulls have earned a bye and will return to action when they host a CCC Semifinal game on Wednesday, May 1 with a time and opponent to be determined. Wentworth (12-5, 4-3 CCC) awaits the announcement for its seeding in the upcoming CCC Tournament.
