Late Defensive Stand Helps Men's Lacrosse Edge MIT, 18-17

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Endicott men's lacrosse team went on the road and picked up a tightly contested 18-17 victory over MIT on Wednesday afternoon at Henry G. Steinbrenner '27 Field.

Guerin Favreau (Woodstock Valley, Conn.) led the Gulls in points with four goals and six assists.

Tommy Tyksinski (Guilderland, N.Y.) paced Endicott with a game-high five goals while Nick Graap (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and Colt Green (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) both tallied hat-tricks.

Nick Pagluiso (Shelton, Conn.) helped facilitate the offense by recording four assists to go with two goals and Cam Fernandez (Mendham, N.J.) added a goal and two assists.

In goal, Tim Luciano (Westport, Conn.) made three saves to move to 3-1 on the season.

Tied 5-5 at the end of the first quarter, the Gulls used a 7-1 scoring run in the second quarter thanks to faceoff man Thomas Barker (Needham, Mass.) winning seven of nine faceoffs in the quarter. Green scored all three of his goals in the quarter as Endicott led 12-6 going to the break.

Coming out of halftime, MIT scored twice to cut the lead to four before two Favreau goals and a Graap tally opened the lead back up to seven. The Engineers defense held Endicott scoreless over the next 11 minutes as they went on a 5-0 scoring run to trim the Gulls lead to 15-13 in the fourth quarter.

A Tyksinski goal pushed the lead back to three as MIT would get two goals back to get within one. Favreau and Tyksinski tallies helped Endicott regain its three goal advantage. The Engineers scored 46 seconds after Tyksinski's goal and then again with just over one-minute remaining.

Following an MIT timeout with Endicott man-down, the Engineers were not able to get a shot on goal as they had one blocked and then Matt Cawley (Westwood, Mass.) forced a turnover to end the game and earn Endicott the victory.
