No. 7 Amherst Bests Men’s Lacrosse, 16-9

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's lacrosse team lost to No. 7 nationally ranked Amherst, 16-9, in non-conference action on Tuesday night at Hempstead Stadium.

Offensively, Jack Sutherland (Sudbury, Mass.), Will Clark (Burnt Hills, N.Y.), Sam Abate (Beverly, Mass.), and Nick Arcadipane (Groveland, Mass.) led the Gulls with two goals apiece, while John Koebel (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) added a solo tally in the loss.

On the other end, senior goalie Austin Fournier (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) stopped 13 shots and James Loughran (Cos Cob, Conn.) compiled six ground balls and four caused turnovers to highlight the defensive unit.

Amherst opened up the game on a 4-0 run and never lost momentum the rest of the way to earn the victory. The Mammoths also put together a 3-0 run in the second quarter (6:15-3:14, 8-2 lead) and another 3-0 run in the third (12:17-11:49, 11-4 lead) to keep an Endicott comeback bid at bay.
