Men's Lacrosse Tops Nazareth In Home Opener, 13-7

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's lacrosse team posted a 13-7 non-conference victory over Nazareth College on Saturday afternoon at Hempstead Stadium.

The Gulls outscored the Golden Flyers in the first, 7-1 and went up by as many as nine goals (10-1) with 6:36 to play in the third quarter.

Endicott then was able to hold off a late rally by Nazareth as the visitors scored four straight goals, but tallies by Neal Parry (Marshfield, Mass.)Ben Clark (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) and Andrew Soucy (Andover, Mass.) gave the Gulls the eventual 13-7 win to even their record on the year to 1-1.

Sam Abate (Beverly, Mass.) fueled the Endicott offense with a trio of goals, while Jack Sutherland (Sudbury, Mass.)Mike Sudora (Monroe, Conn.) and Clark all posted two goals on the day.

Sutherland added two assists to his stat line to end the day with a match-high four points.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Today's contest marked the first-ever meeting between Endicott and Nazareth.
  • Austin Fournier (Martha's Vineyard, Mass.) got the start in net and evened his record at 1-1 with 11 saves for the Gulls.
  • Andrew Fithian (Marshfield, Mass.) caused a match-high four turnovers, while Domenic Valera (Fitchburg, Mass.) and Reed Rezanka (San Diego, Calif.) both scooped up a team-high four ground balls.
  • Endicott received goals from eight different student-athletes and went 3-for-5 on the man-advantage.
  • Nazareth is receiving votes in the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division III national poll.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (1-1) will travel to Babson College on Wednesday, March 4 for a non-conference matchup at 4:00 PM. Nazareth (1-2) will play at Brockport on Tuesday, March 3 at 4:00 PM.
