Gulls Finish 26th at NCAA DIII Championship

NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Endicott men's golf team set a program record at the NCAA Division III Championship on Tuesday, finishing 26th in the 43-team field at the Keene Trace Golf Club. The 26th place finish sets a new program record.

Day one of the Championship saw the Gulls take on the Champion Trace course, which played at 6,974 yards, at a par of 72, before taking on the Keene Run, a par 72, 6,701-yard course on day two.

Leading the way for the Gulls were Brady Burke (Bedford, N.H.) and Will Pierce (Melrose, Mass.), who finished tied for 87th in the field of 220. The duo each finished +6, posting two-day totals of 150. Burke posted a +5, 77 on day one, before closing with a +1, 73 on day two for his 150, while Pierce fired rounds of +3, 75 on both days.

Tyler Baker (Falmouth, Maine) and Frank Mahoney (Braintree, Mass.) tied for 120th in the field, posting two-day totals of +9, 153. Baker, the newly-named CCC Golfer of the Year, posted a +6, 78 on day one, before closing with a +3, 75 on day two. Mahoney opened his Championship play with a +7, 79, before charging up the leaderboard to post a two-over, 74 on the final day of play.

Kyle Mahoney (Braintree, Mass.) closed out the scoring for the Gulls, posting a two-day total of 168.

BEYOND THE SCORECARD

  • Endicott's 26th place finish bests the previous program record set in 2013-14 when the Gulls finished 31st in a field of 41.
  • The Gulls have now competed in the NCAA DIII Championship field in five of the nine years since the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) earned an automatic bid to the field.
  • As a team, the Gulls carded two birdies on day one, and 12 on day two.
