Austin Teal Finishes National Championship Tied for Ninth

GREENSBORO, N.C.-  Endicott sophomore Austin Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) made Endicott history as he finished tied for ninth place overall at the NCAA Division III Golf Championships at the Grandover Resort with a four round score of 294 (+6). Teal made the cut after the first two days of the Championship as an individual as he sat at even par following 36 holes of competition.  That was good enough to place him amongst the top ten individual golfers whose teams did not make the top 15 team cut, and therefore allowed him to take place in the final two rounds.

Teal's first round score of 74 (+2) was bettered by his day two score of 70 (-2), to provide the even par score following his first two rounds.  The sophomore made the most of his opportunity for his third round as he shot yet another 70 to move him to -2 for the Championship, and with that, a third place standing at the conclusion of the third round.   His fourth round proved to be his toughest, as he posted a fourth round score of 80 (+8).

Austin's favorite hole in the competition was the second hole on the East Course of the Grandover Resort.  The hole, a 535 yard par 5, saw Teal post a -3 total in three rounds on the course following a par in the first round, an Eagle in the third, and a birdie in the fourth.
