Erlichman Receives Guy Tesdesco Award as Gulls Finish 11th at NEIGA Championships

BREWSTER, Mass.- After finishing day one of the NEIGA Championships in a tie for 20th out of 38 schools, Endicott rode a strong final day rally to close the tournament in 11th place overall, and fourth out of all NCAA Division III squads.  The Gulls were paced by sophomore Austin Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) who finished the Championship in a tie for eighth out of 189 golfers by shooting a two round combined score of 150, just six over the par of 72.  Medalist honors went to Monte Mullen of Central Connecticut who finished with a score of 143.

Senior co-captain Nick Erlichman (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was honored by the NEIGA with the 2013 Guy Tedesco Award.  This award is given annually to the Outstanding New England College Golfer who displayed the qualities Guy Tedesco was noted for: unselfish leadership, outstanding talent, love of golf and willingness to promote positive aspects of golf to others.  Erlichman has completed internships with the Media Relations Department at the College of Holy Cross, as a Junior Golf Intern at the New England PGA and as a tournament operations intern for the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour for his semester-long internship.

Austin Teal's eighth place finish came after he was tied for 24th at the conclusion of day one.  Teal's opening round of 76 was six shots off the low round set by Mullen and just four over par on the Captains Golf Course.  Teal then took two shots off his first day total to close with a two over 74 on day two.

Finishing second for the Gulls was senior Zach Golojuch (Saco, Maine).  Golojuch paired an opening round of 79 with his second round of 80 to finish with a 159, good enough to close in a tie for 52nd.  Tied for third for the Gulls were Ian Teal (Loudonville, N.Y.) and Erlichman.  Both players finished tied for 92nd overall with scores of 163.  Teal's score came after his first round 84 was bested on day two as he shot a 79.  Erlichman, who opened with an 81, closed day two with an 82.  Closing out the scoring for Endicott was co-captain Jack Carroll (West Hartford, Conn.).  The senior was able to turn his opening round of 91 around and closed with a day two score of 82 for a combined 173.  That score helped him finish tied for 155th.

The team is now finished with the fall portion of their schedule and will break until the spring to compete in the CCC Championships.  Tentative date for the championship is set for April 26th.
