BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team lost to Roger Williams, 3-2, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action on a drizzly Saturday afternoon at North Field.
Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.) provided the Gulls with an early 1-0 advantage at the 22:06 mark of the contest with a strong net drive for her 10th goal of the season.
However, Roger Williams regrouped out of the break scoring three unanswered tallies (44:10, 46:26, 53:01) to come away with the eventual victory despite a valiant comeback attempt by the Gulls.
Following two penalty corners and three shot attempts (1 save, 1 blocked, 1 post) by Endicott's full-press attack, sophomore midfielder Reagan Hicks (Barnstable, Mass.) cut into the deficit at 3-2 when she put home a Swanson rebound with less than two minutes to play.
The Hawks responded defensively after the last-minute strike by not allowing a penalty corner or shot attempt the rest of the way.
In goal, Alexis DeMattia (Methuen, Mass.) stopped 10 shots in the loss (6-2).
