Oct. 27, 2004

The Gulls wrapped up their regular season play today at home with a loss to non-conference opponent Keene State. The Gulls lost 3-2 to the Owls and finished their season with an overall record of 12-6. The Owls are currently 11-7 and have one remaining regular season game.

Today was Senior Day for the nine EC seniors and it was senior Beth McKenna who scored the first goal of the game. On a pass from teammate Kim Doody, McKenna was able to deflect the ball past Keene State goalkeeper Sara Joyce to give EC the lead at the 16:51 mark.

The Owls were quick to fight back and dominated the rest of the half. At the 13:05 mark, Keene State's forward Kaitlin Henley tied the game 1-1. With just 1:03 left in the half, Keene State's Nicole Garneau scored to give the Owls a 2-1 lead at the half. The Owls out shot the Gulls 10-4 in the first half.

The Gulls turned up the pressure in the second half out shooting the Owls 8-4. Senior forward Jen McCormack tied the game when she lifted the ball past Keene State's keeper on a rebound shot taken by Ashley Wallace. It only took the Owls one minute to retaliate and score the game winning goal on a shot from Henley.

EC's goalkeeper Erin Curry had 11 saves. Senior defenders Lisa Cote and Melissa Durrant both recorded defensive saves in the second half.

The Gulls begin their Commonwealth Coast Conference post-season play Saturday October 30th at 1:00pm. The Gulls will host the Pride from Regis College in the CCC quarterfinals.
