The EC field hockey team continues a three game winning streak with a victory over Salem State College. Offensively, EC took the scoreboard early with an unassisted goal from sophomore Caitlin Murray nine minutes into the first half. Senior Kim Doody netted the second goal just one minute after Murray. Doody and Murray both ended the game with two goals each, scoring their second goals in the second half. Senior forward Jen McCormack finished off Salem State with EC's fifth goal of the game assisted from sophomore Lauren Hull with only one minute remaining in the game.
The Gull's defense was lead by senior captain Lisa Cote. She helped EC's goalkeeper Erin Curry post her second career shut out. Cote was credited with a key defensive save late in the second half when she stopped Salem State's last attempt to score on EC's defensive goal line.
EC field hockey will play their first conference game against Gordon on Thursday September 16th at Gordon.
