Endicott Field Hockey lost to Plymouth State today at EC's Tupper Field. The Plymouth State team now improves their record to 5-1, while the Gulls drop to 3-4.
In the first half Plymouth State hit home early scoring five goals against the EC defense, while the Gulls where unable to capitalize on their scoring opportunities including their eight offensive penalty corners.
Things began to turn around early in the second half for the Gulls when junior defender Ashley Wallace scored on a penalty stroke. Wallace slid the shot right by the Panther's freshman goalkeeper Katie Randall. Just four minutes after Wallace's goal, sophomore Caitlin Murray found the back of the net on an assist from Wallace, making it 5-2 at the 25:54 mark. Still digging back from the initial five goal deficit, senior forward Jen McCormack finessed her way down the field beating three Plymouth State defenders to score an unassisted goal with ten minutes left in the game.
Even though EC out shot the Panthers 22-7 in the second half, their effort was not enough to put them back in the game. The Panthers sealed the win with their sixth goal scored by junior forward Lily Silvia.
EC drops to 3-4 over all. They will host their second CCC regular season match up Saturday September 25th against University of New England at 11am.
