CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: Endicott Hosts Salve Regina For Conference Title (5/11)

BEVERLY, Mass. – The second-seeded Endicott baseball team will host fourth-seeded Salve Regina University on Wednesday at 12 p.m. in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament championship round at North Field.

Endicott, who is 3-0 in tournament play (double-elimination format), will need one win to capture its seventh CCC title in program history. The Seahawks, on the other hand, will need to defeat the Gulls twice to become CCC champions. The if necessary game is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (approximately).

THE MATCHUP: Endicott handed Salve Regina its only loss in the CCC Tournament by a 6-5 score at North Field on Friday, May 6. The Gulls also hold a 2-1 advantage against the Seahawks this season. In the all-time series, Endicott is 28-24 versus Salve Regina.

ENDICOTT (29-13): The Gulls have won four games in a row entering Wednesday's CCC Tournament championship round. Endicott also is 14-7 at home this season, and has outscored its opponents 95-42 over the last 10 games (8-2 record, includes 28-4 win over Gordon).

SALVE REGINA (24-16-1): After falling to Endicott in their second game of the CCC Tournament on May 6, the Seahawks rattled off back-to-back wins against Curry (12-6) and first-seeded Western New England (9-1) to remain alive in postseason play. Tomorrow's contest versus Endicott will mark Salve Regina's seventh game played in the last 11 days, and fifth in the CCC Tournament (8-3 win vs. Nichols on May 5).

STATS THAT MATTER: Endicott ranks first in the conference in fielding percentage (.972, top-5 in the country), and second in earned run average (4.01). Salve Regina is first in on-base percentage (.414) and slugging percentage (.477), and second in batting average (.333).

WHAT'S AT STAKE: The winner of tomorrow's CCC championship will earn the conference's automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
