Endicott Shuts Down Salve Regina 9-0

NEWPORT, R.I.  – The Endicott women's tennis team remained unbeaten in their CCC schedule with one match remaining after the Gulls defeated Salve Regina 9-0 on Friday afternoon down in Newport, Rhode Island. The Blue and Green improved to 9-2 overall and 7-0 in league action following their impressive team effort against the Seahawks.

Endicott visits CCC opponent Curry (0-11, 0-7 CCC) in their final conference match of the regular season before the CCC Tournament begins on Tuesday, October 7th with quarterfinal play.

Against Salve Regina, Endicott won all three doubles matches in convincing fashion before taking each singles match in straight sets. Senior captains Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) and Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) as well as junior Suzie Newman (Dighton, Mass.) and freshmen Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) and Dayna Reilly (Swansea, Mass.) all secured points in both singles and doubles matches.

Heacox and Reilly teamed up at the #1 doubles position and won 8-1, Egbert and Bergstein played their #2 doubles opponents to an 8-2 victory, and the combination of Newman and fellow junior Brittany Potter (Bedford, N.H.) took down their #3 doubles opponents 8-1.

In singles action, Heacox won #1 singles 6-1, 6-1, Egbert won 6-2. 6-0 at #2 singles, and Reilly won the #3 singles flight 6-0, 6-1. Newman won in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 at the #4 singles position, sophomore Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) won #5 singles 6-0, 6-0, and Bergstein was victorious at #6 singles 6-1, 6-0.
