Reilly Named CCC Rookie of the Week After Roger Williams Performance

CCC Athletes of the Week - Week Ending September 7th

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Endicott freshman women's tennis star Dayna Reilly (Swansea, Mass.) helped the Gulls secure a conference opener victory over Roger Williams on Saturday and for her efforts the CCC named Reilly their Rookie of the Week. Reilly secured two points for Endicott in a 5-2 match over the Hawks at #1 doubles with senior teammate Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) and clinched the win by taking her #3 singles opponent in three sets.

This is Reilly's first collegiate weekly award and the first for Endicott women's tennis this season. The Blue and Green are 2-1 (1-0 CCC) on the year and have another crucial, regular season, CCC showdown with Nichols on Tuesday, September 9th at 3:30 pm at home. Tuesday's matchup with the Bison is a rematch of each of the last three CCC Championship games.

Reilly's doubles match was the first of three to finish leading off the contest with Roger Williams. The Heacox-Reilly duo bested their Hawks #1 doubles opponents Lauren Schmidt and Alexandra Brown 8-4 to give Endicott an early 1-0 lead.

After taking a 2-1 lead in the match through doubles play, the Gulls took two of the first three singles matches to go ahead 4-2. In her #3 singles flight against Harley Kaiserman, Reilly battled for a 7-5, first set victory before losing a second set tiebreaker 7-6 (7-3). With the third set up for grabs, Reilly took control of the match and played an unblemished set and won 6-0 to secure Endicott's team win over Roger Williams.

Reilly is now 4-2 on the year with 2-1 records in both singles and doubles action.
