Endicott Rolls to Third Straight Win; Gulls Beat Western New England 9-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team ran their recent win-streak to three matches with a 9-0 shutout of Western New England on Saturday as the Gulls improved their overall record to 4-1 (3-0 CCC). Senior captain Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) won the top singles and doubles (with freshman Dayna Reilly (Swansea, Mass.)) while freshman Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) recorded her first collegiate singles victory with a straight-set #6 singles win.

Endicott moves on to face North Shore rival and CCC opponent Gordon on Wednesday, September 17th at 4:00 pm in Wenham, Massachusetts while Western New England travels to Springfield on Thursday for a non-conference showdown starting at 4:00 pm.

Seniors Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) and Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) started off doubles play by defeating freshman Christina D'Agostino (Bohemia, N.Y.) and junior Kelly Byrnes (Berlin, Conn.) 8-1 at the #2 flight. Heacox and Reily followed with an 8-1 victory over freshman Lauren Sell (Milford, Conn.) and sophomore Joeanna Glantz (Agawam, Mass.) at the top position and juniors Suzie Newman (Dighton, Mass.) and Brittany Potter (Bedford, N.H.) handled freshmen duo Alice Mathews (Scarborough, Maine) and Jessica Breitweg (Bohemia, N.Y.) 8-1 at #3 doubles.

With a 3-0 lead, Endicott went on to sweep singles action as Potter, at #4 singles, beat Byrnes 6-2, 6-0, Egbert and Newman didn't drop a game to their #2 and #3 singles oppositions, respectively, and Heacox won 6-1, 6-1 over Sell. Bergstein finished her #6 singles match 6-0, 6-2 over Golden Bears senior Michele Magliulo (Manorville, N.Y.) and sophomore Jamie Zompa (Marlborough, Mass.) took down fellow sophomore Corey St. Louis (Groton, Conn.) 6-0, 6-1.
