Women's Tennis Sweeps North Shore Cup Matches with Salem State Triumph

SALEM, Mass. – With a 9-0 win over Salem State on Thursday afternoon, the Endicott women's tennis team ran their unbeaten streak to five matches and won back-to-back games over North Shore Cup rivals. Endicott improved to 6-1 overall on the season with their second straight road victory and will next face CCC opponent Wentworth on Saturday, September 20th on the Harvard University campus.

Endicott shuffled their lineup against the Vikings as senior captains Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) and Natalie Egbert (Westbrook, Conn.) took over the top doubles position and won 8-2. Sophomore Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) and freshman Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) teamed up at the #2 doubles flight to win 8-1 and juniors Suzie Newman (Dighton, Mass.) and Brittany Potter (Bedford, N.H.) took down their #3 doubles opposition 8-3.

With a 3-0 advantage, Endicott continued their strong play with freshman Hannah Kravetz (Wayland, Mass.) making her first collegiate start and winning #6 singles 6-2, 6-0. Sophomores Jamie Zompa (Marlborough, Mass.) and Skyelar MacLeod (Portsmouth, R.I.) handled their #4 and #5 also in straight sets with Zompa winning 6-1, 6-3 and MacLeod taking both her sets at 6-2.

Newman and Rhodes both played their first matches in the top three singles flights this season with Newman winning #2 singles 6-0, 6-3 and Rhodes taking #3 singles 6-1, 6-2. At the top singles position, senior captain Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) grinded out a first set tiebreaker to win 7-6 (10-8) before taking a highly-contested second set 7-5.
