CCC Athletes of the Week - Week Ending September 21st
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – After going 4-2 in her singles and doubles matches combined this week, Endicott women's tennis freshman Dayna Reilly (Swansea, Mass.) was named CCC Rookie of the Week for the second time this season. Reilly helped the Gulls (7-2, 5-0 CCC) push their season-high win-streak to six matches before suffering their first loss since August 30th in a home loss to Babson on Sunday.
Reilly teamed up with senior captain Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) for three doubles victories, defeating CCC opponents Gordon and Wentworth at the top flight by scores of 8-3 and 8-0, respectively, before taking down their #2 doubles opponents from Babson 8-5. Reilly and Heacox are 6-2 (4-1 CCC) together in doubles play this season with a 5-2 record at the #1 position.
In singles action, Reilly suffered straight losses in her #2 match versus Gordon and #3 match versus Babson but shined on the road against Wentworth, winning 6-0, 6-2 at the #2 singles flight. Reilly is now 3-4 (2-2 CCC) in singles matches in the 2014 season.
Reilly and the Gulls have two home matches this week starting with NEWMAC opponent Emerson on Thursday, September 25th at 3:30 pm followed by Homecoming and Senior Day on Saturday, September 27th against CCC member Eastern Nazarene starting at 1:00 pm.
