Women's Volleyball Finishes Undefeated CCC Regular Season with 3-0 Sweep of WNE

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Endicott women's volleyball team finished regular season play with a 3-0 road sweep of Western New England on Saturday afternoon. The win completed an undefeated conference finish for the Gulls as Endicott went 9-0 against Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) competition, and 18-8 overall, while Western New England fell to 11-13 overall and 4-5 in CCC play. Both teams now await the release of the bracket for the upcoming CCC Tournament.

The Gulls dominated offensively in the match, out-hitting the Golden Bears .364 to .159, finishing with 48 kills to 30 for the home squad. Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.)Riley Donahue (South Windsor, Conn.), and Krystina Schueler (Trumbull, Conn.) all finished hitting .320 or better and with 10 kills or more in the win. Gilbert (11-3-25, .320) and Donahue (10-1-21, .429) each recorded double-doubles in the win as Gilbert picked up 10 digs while Donahue finished with 12. Schueler led the match with a .629 average after finishing with 10 kills and just one error on only 13 swings. 

Orchestrating the Endicott attack were setters Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) and Amelia Beigel (Amherst, Mass.), as the duo finished with 22 and 20 assists, respectively. 

Leading the defensive effort was libero Emma Ruel (Duxbury, Mass.) who finished with a match-high 19 digs in the sweep as the Gulls finished with 59 digs to the Golden Bears' 45. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 19-4 all-time against Western New England dating back to 1999.
  • Beigel finished one dig shy of a double-double as she posted 20 assists and nine digs.
  • Meghan Frederick (Sunapee, N.H.) finished with six kills and a .294 average while Nicole Winkler (Southborough, Mass.) finished with a .333 average after posting two kills on six attempts.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (18-8, 9-0 CCC) and Western New England (11-13, 4-5 CCC) now await the release of the pairings for the upcoming CCC Tournament which is set to begin on Tuesday evening.
