MEDFORD, Mass. – The Endicott women's volleyball team earned a hard-fought victory over Tufts University, 3-2, on Wednesday night at Cousens Gym. The scores for tonight's match were 25-23, 25-22, 19-25, 21-25, and 18-16.
Amanda Gilbert (Hopkinton, Mass.) highlighted the Gulls' efforts via 12 kills, 15 digs, four blocks (one solo, there assisted), three service aces, and one assist.
Riley Donahue (South Windsor, Conn.) also played a pivotal role in the win with her first career double-double (17 kills/11 digs), while Colleen McAvoy (Coventry, Conn.) contributed nine kills and five block assists.
Danica Glover (Seal Beach, Calif.) and Lauren McGrath (Franklin, Mass.) split duties running the offense (26 assists/22 assists). The duo also combined for 24 digs (Glover-8 | McGrath-16).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Last week, Tufts was ranked No. 25 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Coaches Top-25 Poll (Week 3, September 21).
- The Gulls trailed 6-3 and 12-9 in the fifth set prior to coming away with the win.
- Endicott held Tufts to its second-lowest hitting percentage of the season.
- McGrath registered her second double-double of the 2021 campaign.
- The Gulls picked up their sixth win in the all-time series against Tufts.
- Endicott is 3-2 in its last five matches versus the Jumbos.
- Tufts is 0-2 in five-set matches this season.
